Politicians Should stop announcing unreasonable targets for Civic projects during Corona Pandemic - Adv. Satya Muley.

Civic work is important and must be resumed wherever possible. State leaders are seen announcing unreasonable targets for civic projects for political mileage, which is alarming. In Pune it is seen that there is a race to re-start civic projects, but some civic projects are uncalled for or the hurry is unjustified. It was seen that when the Jumbo Facility for treating Covid patients which has come up at COEP ground was constructed at a breakneck speed, it was done putting at risk the lives of workforce involved mainly the migrant and low income group laborers. They were seen working in the rain, 24X7 without social distancing, masks and without protective clothing. On the contrary road construction, and water supply related projects, smart city projects are seen taking fair amount of care of the laborers. Every stake holder must recognize and respect that human rights of laborers specifically the right of protection from being affected by Corona virus during the delicate times of Covid19 Pandemic. Reckless Civic work without due care, leading to increased Covid19 risk exposure of the low income and migrant workforce must be totally avoided.
